The Optometric Clinical Assistant plays a key role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting optometrists during eye exams and related procedures.
Requirements
- Completion of high school education is mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Compassionate demeanor with a focus on patient comfort and care.
- Strong organizational habits and attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in using computers and digital systems.

Responsibilities
- Welcomes new patients and explains clinic procedures.
- Clarifies the purpose and process of diagnostic tests to patients.
- Collects comprehensive patient histories.
- Ensures accurate documentation and consistent measurement practices.
- Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques.
- Manages patient flow and provides updates and reassurance to patients.
- Identifies and resolves basic equipment issues.
- Replaces light bulbs and checks device connections.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to the lead technician promptly.
- Seeks assistance from senior staff when needed.
- Keeps examination and procedure areas clean and well-stocked.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
