About The Position
About the Unit The NICU is a 61 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which includes intermediate level beds as well. This unit provides care for severely ill newborn infants, ranging from extremely premature to post term babies. Babies typically have respiratory distress, cardiac defects, neurological problems and unstable multiple anomalies. About Royal Oak Hospital Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #2 hospital in Michigan and one of the top hospitals in the country. It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned it Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. Scope of work Coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the unit. In addition to communication and clerical tasks, she/he monitors and stocks supplies. Provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.
- Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
