About The Position

Facilitates patient visits and supports the health care provider by anticipating and responding to patient needs and requests of the health care team. Allows care providers to focus on patient care by coordinating details of patient visits which include: daily activities of the care providers in a multispecialty medical practice, preparing patients, completing pre-examination record information, managing the flow of patient materials. Obtain or verify patient demographics and properly advise patients of scheduling delays or changes to the appropriate individuals, and serving as a direct contact and resource to the patient. Perform related clerical duties such as processing prior authorizations which may include fax and on-line requests, as well as processing patient appointment communications and related materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of customer service experience in relevant fields such as administrative, physician's office, appointment scheduler, clinical assistant, patient service rep, or imaging assistant.
  • Individuals without relevant medical education or experience must complete a Medical Terminology course within six months of employment.
  • Computer skills including Windows-based applications and intranet/internet use.
  • Ability to work independently and be goal-directed.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective multitasking without compromising quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and remain calm under stress.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree and coursework in a healthcare related field (e.g., Administrative Clinic Assistant, Medical Office, Medical Assistant, Health Care/Medical Receptionist or comparable).
