About The Position

The Sleep, Mood, Anxiety Research & Treatment (SMART) Division within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC is seeking a full-time faculty member to provide evidence-based outpatient treatment for a wide spectrum of sleep, anxiety or mood disorders, including common co-morbid sensory processing conditions (tinnitus, eating, smell & taste disturbances). This position requires a clinician scientist who will see patients, supervise trainees and participate in program activities (e.g., journal clubs, case conferences). There is a strong emphasis within the SMART on research. Therefore, the appropriate candidate would be eligible for a research package. The faculty member reports to the Director, Sleep, Mood, Anxiety Research & Treatment (SMART) Division .

Requirements

• Must hold a terminal degree (M.D., Ph.D. or related)
• Must have a valid SC Medical Psychologist license
• Ability to perform job functions in an upright position
• Ability to perform job functions in a seated position

• Ability to lift and carry 150 lbs., unassisted
• Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted
• Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted
• Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted
• Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted
• Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected
• Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand
• Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance
• Ability to match or discriminate between colors
• Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
• Good peripheral vision capabilities
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
• Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet
• Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills
• Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements
• Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually
• Ability to maintain a valid drivers license
• Computer literacy
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required
