About The Position

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Cleveland State University is seeking to fill a nine-month, tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor position to begin August 18, 2025. Primary Duties for the position include teaching DPT courses; assisting with or assuming the duties of Director of Clinical Education; being involved in ongoing curriculum development/evaluation; mentoring/advising students; and providing academic, professional, and/or community service. In addition, Clinical Assistant Professors are expected to contribute to research. This is an on-campus position. Accredited since 1976, the Physical Therapy Department is a part of the College of Health. The DPT Program actively engages students in the educational process and provides an energetic, collegial, and supportive academic environment within the University and the dynamic Cleveland biomedical community. Cleveland State University is an urban campus serving racially, culturally, and economically diverse students. The College of Health encompasses the following academic units, that were previously part of other university colleges or were standalone departments: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Exercise Science/Community Health, Health Sciences/Public Health, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, School of Nursing and School of Social Work. Requirements

  • An earned clinical doctorate in physical therapy or an earned research doctorate in physical therapy or a related field by July 1, 2025
  • Eligibility for Ohio PT licensure
  • A minimum of three years of clinical physical therapy practice experience
  • The ability to teach core courses in the DPT Program
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and work on teams
  • Evidence of teaching and scholarship capability, as well as experience in supporting clinical education, supervision, and coordination, at an academic institution

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of experience and excellence in teaching, especially in higher education and/or in physical therapy
  • APTA board-certified clinical specialist and/or graduate of clinical residency or fellowship training program
  • Experience in integrating technology into teaching
  • Professional, academic, and/or community service and/or leadership
  • Evidence of experience in supporting clinical education, supervision, and coordination at an academic institution
  • Teaching support in neurology and clinical education
