About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing to begin Spring 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month academic faculty appointment. Primary duties will include teaching specialty didactic and clinical courses in PMHNP; supervising and assessing student clinical competencies and theoretical knowledge while supporting comprehensive learning experiences; evaluating students' progress in course work and clinical experience; planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum, as appropriate; completing all administrative aspects of courses taught; and advising/mentoring the next generation of PMHNP's. Duties also include serving on and participating in college and university committees; and providing service to the community and profession. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited university
  • PMHNP master's degree or post-graduate certificate in PMHNP from an accredited program
  • Board certification as a PMHNP
  • Current unrestricted/unencumbered license to practice registered nursing within the State of Texas
  • Two or more years' experience treating patients as a PMHNP
