The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Engineering & Sciences welcomes applications for Clinical Assistant Professor faculty position in Chemical Engineering with a strong Process Simulation and/or Dynamic Controls background, to begin in 2025. In addition to teaching and service responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to help establish an innovative teaching curriculum in the department with effective collaborations in their area of expertise meeting industry and the scientific community at large needs. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience and expertise in addressing problems related to process-simulation and dynamic controls, preferably with a focus on the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors. This position will include scheduling classes, teaching undergraduate coursework in Chemical Engineering, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, and College/University service. Individuals with strong teaching ability and proven curriculum development are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have experience in the university classroom environment, both face to face and in an on-line format, with evidence of quality instruction. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members include teaching and service activities as assigned. Full-time teaching position on a 9-month contract. Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate courses. Face-to-face and/or hybrid teaching interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus for a minimum of four days a week. Teach 24-27 credit hours per contract year. Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the ABET Program Coordinator. Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught. Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and use appropriate technology. Student course evaluations are to be completed in each course. Abide by deadlines and processes for submitting grades. Advise students and provide individual help to students during weekly office hours. Participate in course/laboratory revisions and curriculum development, as assigned. Work with other faculty and staff to advance the program. Attend department (college, and university faculty meetings). Attend convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community meetings.
