RWJBarnabas Health is New Jersey's largest integrated health care delivery system, providing treatment and services to more than three million patients each year.  The Health System consists of 14 hospitals and 9,000 affiliated physicians integrated to provide care at more than 700 patient care locations. The Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist principal responsibility is to establish and maintain a direct patient care practice in the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group office practice site. The practice site will involve 2 practices in the Florham Park/Morristown area.  The pharmacist is a member of the interprofessional RWJBH team and is responsible for comprehensive medication management for individual patients specifically for chronic disease states (e.g. diabetes, COPD, asthma, anticoagulation, dyslipidemia, osteoporosis, pain, and hypertension). Comprehensive medication management includes but is not limited to: pharmacotherapeutic interventions, pharmacy consultations, providing patient counseling and medication reconciliation, documentation of pharmacy activities, medication errors and adverse events. The faculty member will be expected to provide pharmacy and medical staff education. In addition, they will serve as a preceptor to the RWJBarnabas Health PGY2 ambulatory care residency program as well as offer rotations for PGY1 residents across the system.  In addition, the faculty member will have both didactic and experiential teaching obligations to the School of Pharmacy.  The faculty member would be actively involved in committees within both the health system and Rutgers and would participate in health system collaboratives and serve as a liaison with the acute care facilities.

  • Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Completed at least two years of residency training with a PGY-2 in Ambulatory Care or equivalent experience.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of New Jersey is required.
  • Candidates must be highly motivated, innovative, team-oriented, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient centered care with a commitment to teaching, service, and professional advancement.
