The Clinical Assistant, P&O Lab supports certified clinicians in providing patient care, including preparing patients and rooms, assisting with procedures, managing documentation, and communicating with patients and families.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant or similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Advanced manual dexterity and ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in sports rehabilitation, fitness, healthcare, or a medical office setting.
  • Experience with EPIC and Opie EMR systems.
  • Familiarity with the DME industry.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Willingness to verify clinical activities with certified clinical personnel.
  • Certification as an ABC Orthotic Fitter or ABC O&P Assistant.
  • Licensed or certified in a related allied health profession (e.g., PTA, OTA, ATC).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and rooms for treatment.
  • Assist practitioners with patient care, including making and modifying molds and scans.
  • Perform select procedures and fittings under the supervision of a certified and licensed practitioner.
  • Perform technical fabrication, maintenance, and adjustments of devices.
  • Conduct brace fittings, ensuring comfort and effectiveness.
  • Assist patients with treatment plans, care instructions, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate patient care documentation.
  • Manage materials and device accrual.
  • Maintain organized medical records and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with practitioners on individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including Medicare, OSHA, and bloodborne pathogen requirements.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
