About The Position

We are seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our Outpatient Psychiatry department team. This position offers an opportunity to learn about pharmacy and behavioral health.

Requirements

• A HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year related experience.
• Pharmacy technician or related pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience or interest in behavioral health preferred.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.
• The ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8-4:30pm.
• Medical terminology experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
• Assisting Registered Nurse with completing medication prior authorizations.
• Assisting Registered Nurse with maintaining prescription medication refill line/message pool.
• Communicating with pharmacies over the phone for any prescription medication follow-up as needed.
• Drafting letters as requested by the patient/family (e.g. for pharmacies, school based nursing, pediatricians, medical specialists) for the Registered Nurse's review.
• Collecting and organizing medical records, information, materials and supplies required for admissions or encounters.
• Preparing requisitions and other standard forms as requested by clinician or supervisor.
• Recording and forwarding messages and triaging calls for urgent information or services.
• Responding to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority.
• Initiating call for emergency services as required.
