About The Position

The Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a Clinical Teaching Faculty (assistant or associate) of practice in Cybersecurity. This is a 2-year (academic year) contract position eligible for renewal. Position has the possibility to begin January 2025. (winter quarter). The Department of CSEE is one of two four-year NSA National Centers for Academic Excellence in Cyber defense in the state of Washington and offers academic programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Cyber Operations, a Bachelor of Science Cyber Operations, an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Master of Science in computer Science. The program has recently received a significant investment by the state of Washington and is anticipating substantial growth in the coming years. Cybersecurity is contained within Computer Science. Cybersecurity/Computer Science has 10 faculty members and approximately 400 undergraduate and 10 master students. The department resides in the catalyst Building located in downtown Spokane's University District. This facility is a public-private partnership with the regional tech industry to create a high-tech hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. It offers our students and faculty outstanding opportunities for collaboration with regional industry and other universities. Clinical Assistant and Clinical Associate teaching faculty are expected to actively participate in curriculum development, assessment of student learning, advising of students, facilitate relevancy between department curriculum and industry needs, engage in service, effective teaching, including teaching practices, and interactions with students to support retention and a culture of belonging.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Experience in teaching at the university level
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices
  • Ability to collaborate with industry partners

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Industry certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM)
  • Experience with online teaching platforms
