About The Position

Heart South is seeking a Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (Acute) to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight in an acute care setting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality patient care, excellent customer experience, and efficient patient flow while supporting and mentoring frontline nursing staff. The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager works collaboratively with Nursing Operations leadership to manage daily unit operations, staffing, and clinical outcomes in a fast-paced acute care environment. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (acute care preferred)
  • Current Alabama RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred
  • Specialty certification preferred
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit needs, including:
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NRP
  • TNCC

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and optimal patient flow
  • Manage staffing assignments based on patient acuity and staff skill mix
  • Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners
  • Provide hands-on clinical support and direct patient care as needed
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff and interdisciplinary partners
  • Conduct Nurse Leader rounds and address patient, family, and physician concerns
  • Promote a culture of safety through participation in safety huddles and regulatory readiness
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Assist with staff retention efforts and onboarding of new team members
  • Ensure compliance with Baptist Health policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Serves as a role model for Baptist Health’s mission, vision, and values
  • Participates in shared governance and leadership initiatives
  • Coaches and mentors team members to support professional growth
  • Fosters collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team
  • Communicates effectively with staff, providers, and leadership
