Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of customer service experience required.
  • Individuals without relevant medical education or medical experience will be required to successfully complete a Medical Terminology course within six months of employment.
  • Associate's Degree and coursework in a healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Requires computer skills (i.e., Windows-based applications and intranet/internet use) with the ability to key board.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient visits and supports the health care provider by anticipating and responding to patient needs and requests of the health care team.
  • Coordinates details of patient visits which include daily activities of the care providers in a multispecialty medical practice.
  • Prepares patients and completes pre-examination record information.
  • Manages the flow of patient materials.
  • Obtains or verifies patient demographics and properly advises patients of scheduling delays or changes.
  • Serves as a direct contact and resource to the patient.
  • Performs related clerical duties such as processing prior authorizations and patient appointment communications.
