About The Position

The ETSU Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, invites board-certified or board-eligible Hematologists/Oncologists to join our established team at the Regional Cancer Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Whether your passion lies in patient care, teaching, research, or academic leadership, your career will be supported and encouraged within our collaborative academic environment. This is a predominantly outpatient-focused position with a 4-day clinical schedule and one dedicated day for protected administrative time. Inpatient responsibilities are shared among faculty, with each physician covering one inpatient service week at a time. Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD, DO, or MBBS) from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of a Hematology/Oncology fellowship from an ACGME-accredited program (at time of hire)
  • Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology (at time of interview)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hematology and oncology clinical practice and evidence-based care
  • Ability to manage complex oncologic and hematologic conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills for medical trainees
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Proficiency in electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centered care
  • Ability to balance clinical, educational, and scholarly responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care
  • Participate in shared inpatient hematology/oncology service coverage
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and academic settings
  • Deliver lectures, lead case discussions, and contribute to hands-on clinical education
  • Engage in scholarly activity, quality improvement initiatives, and academic service.
  • Participate in the fellowship recruitment and interview process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care
