About The Position

This job maintains proper staffing levels, sets performance goals for employees, and provides feedback on a regular basis. Communicates and administers clinic-wide and departmental operational and human resources, policies and procedures, and serves as a liaison between departmental and neighborhood clinic management regarding issues which cross over lines of responsibilities in order to create and maintain solid and positive work relationships and exceptional patient care. Coordinates and manages the daily operations of assigned clinics including staffing, medical equipment functionality and repair, completion of daily charge tickets and surgery charges, appointment scheduling, phone access and patient wait time. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 years of related experience in an ophthalmology, optical services or healthcare setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of business operations principles within a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Business degree in healthcare field.
  • JCAHPO Certification as an ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic medical technician.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains and develops department staff and manages daily operations.
  • Manages operational profitability.
  • Ensures patient/customer service satisfaction.
  • Supervises patient care and scheduling.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
