About The Position

Clinic staff nurses provide individualized and specialized nursing care to patients within the physician/nurse team in accordance with physician's orders, recognized nursing techniques of current nurse practice in the State of Georgia and the Practice’s policies and procedures. This position is responsible for planning, executing and evaluating the nursing care given to patients. Clinic staff nurses must be self-directed and focused on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) or higher in Nursing required
  • at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: RN
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) skills required: EPIC preferred.
  • Must have the ability to: Problem Solve, Multitask, Prioritize and be detail oriented, Work effectively individually as well as a part of a team, Use active listening skills, Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) skills required: EPIC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow physician-signed protocols for medication refills and symptom assessment
  • Send prescription refills electronically using the electronic health record
  • Review and maintain accurate and detailed records in the electronic health record
  • Record patient’s medical information and vital signs
  • Collaborate with all members of the patient care team including providers, pharmacies, and other support staff
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care
  • Complete phone triage calls to patients and their families to assess symptoms resulting from patient’s medical condition
  • Suggest nursing interventions for symptom management based on nursing protocols and communicate changes in patient’s status to the monitoring provider
  • Perform teaching visits in our office to review appropriate use of new medications and health maintenance assessment
  • Review and explain lab, radiology, pathology results with patient/family and plan of care
  • Prepare rooms and ensure proper equipment and adequate stock of supplies are available.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examination or treatments.
  • Provide patient education
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications
  • Handle faxed orders from DME companies, sending signed faxes back in a timely manner
  • Provide excellent customer service when speaking with parent/patient
  • Place NG tube in office as needed
  • Provide injection training to parents/patients
  • Provide Letters of Medical Necessity to families as needed
  • Schedule patient appointments as necessary
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications through insurance companies
  • Write and send school letters/forms to families
  • Return all patient phone calls/emails the same business day
  • May travel to satellite locations to assist physicians in patient care
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
