Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Currently licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- One year of clinical RN experience is required
Nice To Haves
- One year of urology experience is preferred
- Experience with surgery scheduling highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Obtains relevant data (e.g., physical assessment, history, diagnostic data, etc.) and communicates data to other health team members appropriately, according to nursing standards.
- Keeps accurate information regarding referrals made, patients seen and surgeries scheduled.
- Adheres to DHH and JCAHO standards, including medicine storage, tracking and use in addition to medication administration training and competencies adopted by management.
- Implements physicians' orders and utilizes nursing judgement to provide nursing care by measuring and monitoring basic physical and psychological needs according to nursing standards of care.
- Instructs and educates patients and significant others in accord with patient needs.
- Documents care, education, and patient response accurately, concisely and completely according to nursing standards.
- Assists physicians with procedures and examinations as needed in accordance with hospital and department standards.
- Assists with obtaining informed consents when required.
- Evaluates patient's condition and delivers appropriate nursing interventions according to nursing care standards and/or departmental procedures.
- Assesses and discharges patients according to clinic policy and procedure.
- Manages patients with or without specific medical complications in accordance with specified procedures and physician orders, demonstrating knowledge of procedures and possible complications.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding patient status, problems and anticipated problems in an accurate, complete, concise, timely and courteous manner.
- Maintains competency in nursing and technical skills as appropriate to assigned area and according to hospital policy and procedure.
- Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
