Requirements

  • One year of RN experience.
  • Experience in an outpatient clinic setting highly preferred.
  • Active RN licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains relevant data (e.g., physical assessment, history, diagnostic data, etc.) and communicates data to other health team members appropriately, according to nursing standards.
  • Keeps accurate information regarding referrals made, patients seen and surgeries scheduled.
  • Adheres to DHH and JCAHO standards, including medicine storage, tracking and use in addition to medication administration training and competencies adopted by management.
  • Implements physicians' orders and utilizes nursing judgement to provide nursing care by measuring and monitoring basic physical and psychological needs according to nursing standards of care.
  • Instructs and educates patients and significant others in accord with patient needs.
  • Documents care, education, and patient response accurately, concisely and completely according to nursing standards.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and examinations as needed in accordance with hospital and department standards.
  • Assists with obtaining informed consents when required.
  • Evaluates patient's condition and delivers appropriate nursing interventions according to nursing care standards and/or departmental procedures.
  • Assesses and discharges patients according to clinic policy and procedure.
  • Manages patients with or without specific medical complications in accordance with specified procedures and physician orders, demonstrating knowledge of procedures and possible complications.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patient status, problems and anticipated problems in an accurate, complete, concise, timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintains competency in nursing and technical skills as appropriate to assigned area and according to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
