About The Position

You’ll help create a positive and seamless experience for every team member — ensuring they feel valued, supported, and heard The Clinic - RN for our Orthopedic Clinic will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care needs for patients primarily via telephone while working within the scope of the individual’s nursing license. Uses critical thinking and appropriate provider consultation to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of previous clinical experience in an out-patient Physician practice preferred.
  • Must maintain current Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the WA Department of Health.
  • Must maintain current BLS certification.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
  • Employee will function at all times within guidelines established in the Island Hospital HIPAA Compliance Policies and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick utilization levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; must communicate effectively with individuals from multiple disciplines.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality, and possess excellent prioritization skills.
  • Ability to identify and use technology applications to increase efficiency and accuracy in support of clinic operations.
  • Ability to understand issues, and make decisions regarding data acquisition and management related to Electronic Medical Records.

Responsibilities

  • Performs consultation, triage, surveillance, medication authorizations and follow up for patients.
  • Rooms patients, collects medical data, documents for appropriate visit and assists with the physical exam.
  • Under the direction of Physician or Advanced Practice Clinician, administers vaccines and medications IV, PO, IM, SQ.
  • Prioritizes and manages work load in an environment where the nature and volume of the work is unpredictable.
  • Conducts face to face triage, in addition to over the phone, of patients presenting with urgent/emergent needs.
  • Acts as a patient advocate through effective communication with patients, family and other staff regarding the patient’s treatment, ordered tests, procedures, medications and hospitalizations.
  • Directly assists providers as needed, contributing to a smooth work flow in the department.
  • Coordinate and assists patient in scheduling acute, special or routine care appointment, including referrals.
  • Uses critical thinking and assessment skills to follow provider approved protocols.
  • Monitors various inventories, quality assurance requirements, standards, and other patient related needs.
  • Assists stocking of medical and pharmaceutical supplies; notifies appropriate staff when inventories are low.
  • Serves as clinical resource to department staff.
