Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with the public providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience or training in basic bookkeeping and math skills.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Windows programs.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates competency in customer/patient care across the age continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming calls promptly and courteously, assisting customers in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Schedule appointments for patients and maintain knowledge of provider preferences.
  • Obtain accurate billing and insurance information, verifying data promptly.
  • Complete insurance verification eligibility for all insurances before patient's appointment.
  • Accept payments from customers and maintain cash drawer for daily deposits.
  • Prepare encounter documents for patient visits.
  • Route clinical scope of practice questions and requests to appropriate nursing staff.
  • Request supplies and/or minor equipment for the office.
  • Ensure pre-registration and registration of new patients is accurate and timely.
  • Monitor dashboard for denial management and obtain proper authorization for managed care patients.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff for emergent service needs.
  • Ensure all necessary forms and questionnaires are completed accurately.
  • Answer multi-line phone and address patient/payer questions regarding accounts.
  • Balance cash drawer at the beginning or end of shifts.
  • Liaise with HIM staff to provide complete records for patient care coordination.
  • Coordinate with HIM, PFS, and Providers for timely hospital billing.
  • Provide medical records to specialists and primary care providers.
  • Assist with obtaining insurance clearance or prior authorizations for referral appointments.
  • Maintain professional growth through seminars and workshops.
  • Follow safe work practices and policies to ensure no injuries occur.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets job standards.
