Positively impact patient lives by providing expert, full-spectrum care in a sole community-focused hospital and clinic located in a rural setting. In collaboration with advanced practice providers and other team members, provide effective and efficient medical care services, consultation, and supervision to patients.

  • Diagnose, order, and interpret appropriate labs, and treat patient injuries and illnesses.
  • Perform thorough examinations (including wellness checks), consultations, prescribe medication, and oversee immunization needs and administration.
  • Provide education and guidance regarding overall health, development, and wellbeing to patient and support system.
  • Monitor and promote overall health of patients.
  • Appropriately adapt assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including primary care physicians and other specialists.
  • Participate in committees and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training to medical staff, students, and residents as needed.
  • Remain available for consultation, assist with medical emergencies, and make patient referrals.
  • Participate in clinic and hospital committee meetings.
  • Engage with the local community to promote health and wellness.
  • Participate in outreach programs and health fairs to educate the public.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and their support system.
  • Review patient records.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and medical standards.
  • Participate in program evaluation.
  • Participate in developing, executing, and periodically reviewing written policies.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
  • Attend and complete CME annually if required.
  • Must adhere to, and promote, safety protocols at all times.
  • Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools.

  • Ability to remain flexible and to quickly adapt to urgent situations.
  • Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • The relationship between the physician and the physician extenders will be consistent with the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and/or the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners and/or and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Successful completion of a residency program.
  • Proficiency in with epidemiology and infectious diseases.
  • Skill prescribing drugs/medication appropriate for assigned patient population including a thorough understanding and ability to educate others of side effects.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills including a proactive, coordinated approach with specialized care management for patients with complex chronic medical conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible.
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Maintain current DEA and BNDD numbers.
  • For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
