About The Position

The Phlebotomist position draws blood from clinic patients so tests can be performed and doctors can make diagnoses.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must hold and mainain a valid, current driver's license.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
• Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
• Comprehensive phlebotomy skills.
• Knowledge of lab protocols.
• Self-starter with compassion and excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy training preferred but can be trained on the job.
• DOT breathalyzer certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send out all pathology and cytology, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates.
• Perform in house lab tests.
• Check lab orders to make sure orders are correct, confirm physicians on the orders, and make changes if any are needed.
• Perform vein draws, puncture blood, heel sticks, and finger pokes; verify patients' information, do drug screens, do breathalyzers (if competency is completed), and keep phlebotomist updated with changes and new protocols.
• Register patients as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested.
