Position Overview: The Clinic Nurse Supervisor is a working clinical leadership position responsible for the direct supervision of nursing and medical assistant staff within assigned clinic departments. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient patient care delivery while supporting operational goals set up by the Clinic Manager. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Clinic Nurse Supervisor provides direct patient care as needed and may perform Nurse Navigator duties depending on department assignment and specialty needs. This position reports directly to the Clinic Manager. Nothing in this job description restricts MH ability to assign, reassign or eliminate duties and responsibilities of this job at any time. Requirements

  • Active Nurse license (RN or LPN) in the State of North Dakota.
  • Current CPR certification is needed.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience; specialty experience preferred.

  • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership & Oversight Provides direct supervision and daily leadership to RNs, LPNs, and CMAs.
  • Ensures adherence to the Nurse Practice Act, CMS requirements, RHC regulations (if applicable), and organizational policies.
  • Oversees medication storage, infection prevention practices, procedural safety protocols, and needed documentation standards.
  • Leads daily clinical huddles to review patient schedules, care gaps, and workflow concerns.
  • Communicates clinical concerns, staffing needs, and workflow issues to the Clinic Manager promptly.
  • Working Clinical Responsibilities Provides direct patient care to support clinic operations during staffing shortages, high-volume periods, or coverage gaps.
  • Helps with triage, patient rooming, procedures, injections, diagnostic testing, and patient education.
  • Maintains competency within assigned specialty areas.
  • Balances supervisory duties with firsthand clinical engagement.
  • Patient Care Coordination Ensures patient calls are returned according to established timelines.
  • Oversees tracking of diagnostic orders and ensures prompt provider communication of results.
  • Monitors referral processes to ensure closure and continuity of care.
  • Identifies and implements workflow improvements to enhance patient experience and efficiency.
  • Nurse Navigator Functions (When assigned) Coordinates care for complex or specialty patients.
  • Help patients through treatment plans and follow-up processes.
  • Facilitates testing, procedures, and specialty referrals.
  • Provides patient education and support resources.
  • Quality & Compliance Monitors clinical quality measures and documentation accuracy.
  • Ensures completion of required safety logs and clinical checks.
  • Supports audit readiness and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Staff Development Provides coaching, mentoring, and competency validation for clinical staff.
  • Helps with onboarding and ongoing training.
  • Supports performance evaluations in collaboration with the Clinic Manager.
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee daily workflow and performance of assigned nursing and clinical support staff.
  • Helps in performance management, staff development, and corrective action processes.
  • Supports clinical staffing coordination in partnership with the Clinic Manager.
