Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Requires an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) license
Prescriptive authority in the state of Louisiana is required or the application process to obtain must be submitted within 5 business days of hire
ACOG standards for obstetric and gynecologic knowledge

Nice To Haves

Prefer a minimum of three years of related adult nurse practitioner experience, preferably in a specialty clinic. Experience in obstetric and gynecologic care strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates independence, competency, and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care; consistently and competently provides ongoing obstetric and gynecologic healthcare services in conformance with established standards of care and administrative policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of obstetric and gynecologic care through current literature, journal subscriptions, attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations, and licensure maintenance.
Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
Conduct thorough health assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans based on the assessment findings, medical history, and specific health needs of the patient; Seek consultation or refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
Diagnose and treat a variety of obstetric and gynecologic health concerns; Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as needed;
Provide education to patients and their families regarding their health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures; Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention strategies during patient encounters
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient progress.
Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Perform other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
