The GW Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), established in 2000, is a not-for-profit, physician-led, multi-specialty academic practice affiliated with the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. As the largest independent academic physician group in the DC metro area, MFA includes over 500 physicians and nearly 200 advanced practice providers. MFA providers practice across 52 medical and surgical specialties, serve as faculty for medical trainees, and maintain active referral relationships with 12 regional hospitals. MFA also supports community-based practices throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia and continues to expand international outreach. Position Summary The Clinical Nurse provides expert nursing care for patients with complex needs and supports the administrative and educational operations of the Internal Medicine department. This role focuses on patient education, clinical oversight, and workflow optimization to ensure high-quality care delivery.

  • Conduct patient education and clinical teaching (e.g., insulin administration, chronic disease management) beyond MA scope.
  • Assist with rooming and point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Order medications from the clinical pharmacy.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Medical Assistants (MAs).
  • Serve as point-of-contact for escalated patient or staff concerns when the manager is unavailable.
  • Monitor daily workflows and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and standard workflows.
  • Onboard and train new clinical staff.
  • Maintain staff request calendar.
  • Assist with PIVOT/Lean audits.
  • Resolve interpersonal or workflow issues among staff.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Current RN license; certification in a specialty area preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Ability to sit, walk, bend, reach, and twist for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 lbs. as required in a clinical environment.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers and standard office equipment.
  • Exposure to clinical settings and potential need for personal protective equipment.
