About The Position

The Clinic LVN position at WellMed, part of the Optum family, involves providing clinical support and professional nursing care to patients under the direction of healthcare providers. The LVN will perform various nursing duties, coordinate patient care, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards, all while being supported by a global organization dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current and unrestricted State Vocational/Practical Nursing license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • IV certification if required by the clinic.
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrated effective listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform medical procedures, give injections, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff, patients, and the community.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical setting.
  • IV certification.
  • Proven knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all nursing duties within the scope of a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse, including procedures, injections, medication administration, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Participates in implementing established education plans for patients and their families with common health problems.
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by providers, RNs, and policies, including referrals and follow-up.
  • Documents chief complaint and rooms patients according to policy and procedures, preparing them for examination.
  • Telephonically obtains information on chief complaint and symptoms and relays information to the provider.
  • Collects data and performs focused nursing assessments of patients; assists in evaluating patient responses to treatment.
  • Records patient assessment and care in the medical record accurately and timely.
  • Reviews patient records and reports relevant information to the provider and/or RN prior to patient visits.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients and staff in the clinic, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality at all times and treats patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms, and sterilizes instruments.
  • Practices standard infection control precautions and ensures medication management follows policies and procedures.
  • Fulfills medication refill requests following approved protocols and collects lab samples as needed.
