About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current and unrestricted State Vocational/Practical Nursing license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform medical procedures, give injections, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff, patients, and the community.

Nice To Haves

  • IV certification
  • 2+ years of experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Effective listening and communication skills; proper use of grammar and spelling.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all nursing duties within the scope of a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse, including procedures, injections, medication administration, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Participate in implementing established education plans for patients and their families.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by providers and RNs, including referrals and follow-up.
  • Document chief complaints and room patients according to policy and procedures.
  • Telephonically obtain information on chief complaints and accurately relay to the provider.
  • Collect data and perform focused nursing assessments of patients; communicate findings to the provider.
  • Record patient assessments and care in the medical record accurately and timely.
  • Review patient records and report relevant information to the provider and/or RN.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and staff in the clinic.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and treat patients with respect.
  • Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments.
  • Practice standard infection control precautions.
  • Ensure medication management follows policies and procedures; document medications and immunizations in patient records.
  • Collect lab samples and ensure proper labeling according to laboratory management policies.
  • Fulfill medication refill requests following approved protocols.
  • If certified in IV therapy, manage peripheral lines and related tasks.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
