About The Position

The LPN position involves recognizing and assessing urgent/emergency needs of patients and initiating appropriate emergency procedures as needed. The role requires a current level of knowledge of various payor regulations and functioning within those guidelines. The LPN will facilitate interdisciplinary communication, utilizing other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzing patient data. The position also involves assessing learning needs of the patient and significant others, providing accurate and complete information to patients and families, and following clinic procedures for the organization and management of electronic medical records. The LPN will evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans, assist with various procedures and exams, maintain aseptic techniques, document patient interactions, and report results to patients and health care team members. The role functions according to the limitations of the license or certification and performs basic nursing functions under the direction of a provider. Additionally, the LPN is responsible for maintaining the professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.

Requirements

  • Current LPN license issued by the State of Iowa.
  • Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtained within three months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Follow clinic procedures for managing electronic medical records.
  • Evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans.
  • Assist with procedures, exams, and operation of diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate aseptic technique for procedures and medications.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Report results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members.
  • Perform basic nursing functions under the direction of a provider.
  • Maintain the professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement projects.
