The LPN position involves recognizing and assessing urgent/emergency needs of patients and initiating appropriate emergency procedures as needed. The role requires a current level of knowledge of various payor regulations and functioning within those guidelines. The LPN will facilitate interdisciplinary communication, utilizing other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzing patient data. The position also involves assessing learning needs of the patient and significant others, providing accurate and complete information to patients and families, and following clinic procedures for the organization and management of electronic medical records. The LPN will evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans, assist with various procedures and exams, maintain aseptic techniques, document patient interactions, and report results to patients and health care team members. The role functions according to the limitations of the license or certification and performs basic nursing functions under the direction of a provider. Additionally, the LPN is responsible for maintaining the professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
