About The Position

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as an Sr. Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with our OB/GYN clinic at our Hyde Park location. In this role, the Licensed Practical Nurse reports to the OBGYN Nurse Manager. The Sr Clinic LPN performs a wide variety of nursing care services to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, APP or physician. Such services can be therapeutic or diagnostic procedures and/or administration of medication. Experts at the University of Chicago Medicine provide a broad range of general and specialized obstetrics and gynecology services. From preventive gynecologic exams and prenatal care to minimally invasive surgery and high-risk pregnancy care, our team offers the latest advancements in reproductive health and wellness.

Requirements

• Hold an active & current LPN license in the State of Illinois.
• Hold an active CPR certification and completion of a Pharmacological course & exam.
• Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriately to patients.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in OBGYN and OBGYN procedures.
• Knowledge and skill acquired from an outpatient/ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition prior to and after treatments and procedures.
• Document observations and notify physician if patient condition is unstable.
• Perform patient triage, vital signs, rooming, FMLA, 5s maintenance, procedure assistance and other clinical responsibilities as needed.
• Consistently communicate with the nurse manager, registered nurses, additional multidisciplinary team members and physicians to enhance quality of patient care and ambulatory care activities.
• Practice teamwork to create a positive work environment.
• Anticipate the needs of patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
