JOB SUMMARY The general duties of an employee of Central Family Medicine include adherence to all policies and procedures of Central Family Medicine. As an employee of Central Family Medicine, the expectation is that the employee will maintain a high degree of professionalism and ethics. Employees will maintain strict confidentiality as dictated by HIPAA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform selected nursing and administrative duties, and assist physicians as required. Prepare patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting room to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs. Prepare, clean and maintain exam and treatment rooms. Give injections, perform EKG’S, OB/GYN exams and provide other patient care services as directed. Maintain sample closet, administer medications per physician orders and phone in pharmacy orders as directed. Prepare and maintain clinical supplies and equipment. Assist with answering the telephone, providing information as requested and screening calls to the physician. Assist with scheduling tests and treatments. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures. Assist patients in setting goals for self-management, teaching them how to do self-management tasks and report abnormal findings to their physician team. Collaborate with the patient, physician, and other care team members in assessing the patient’s progress toward individual health care goals. Assess barriers when patient has not met treatment goals, is not following treatment plan of care, or has not kept important appointments. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. Maintain strict confidentiality. Treat staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform other essential duties as assigned.
