Requirements

• Previous experience as a medical office assistant within a medical clinic or similar experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and verifying information, such as patient/s name, address, age, date of birth, social security number, occupation, insurance information and obtaining authorization.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• File patient reports and retrieve patient records.
• Demonstrate effective telephone etiquette and greet patients and visitors in a polite and courteous manner.
• Manage an efficient work-flow by multi-tasking.
• Utilize age specific techniques to communicate with the population served which could range from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments in a specified timeframe.
