About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, independently licensed clinician who has a passion for leadership, team development, and clinic operations to serve as Clinic Director of our established outpatient mental health clinic , serving the Henrico community for over three years. This is not an entry-level leadership role; prior experience supervising clinicians or managing a behavioral health program is strongly preferred. This position is best suited for someone who: Has experience supervising clinicians or leading a clinical team Is comfortable managing both people and performance Understands insurance, documentation, and productivity standards Is already credentialed with major insurance carriers in Virginia Wants to play a meaningful role in growing a stable, community-based clinic As a Clinic Director at Ellie Mental Health , you'll share our vision for improving and expanding access to quality mental health care and thrive in an environment driven by our core values of authenticity, humor, compassion, creativity, acceptance, and determination. The Clinic Director is highly compensated (salary, commission, and bonuses) for accepting responsibility for the overall performance and operation of a clinic composed of approximately 10–15 professional outpatient therapists . This includes recruiting and supporting strong clinicians, managing clinic performance and client satisfaction, providing training and ongoing developmental support, meeting fiscal goals, marketing clinical services, and building community partnerships and referrals. The Clinic Director will also maintain a reasonable client caseload. Ellie Mental Health was founded in 2015 with the mission of destigmatizing mental health care and removing barriers to treatment. Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in a mental health discipline
  • Independently licensed in Virginia (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT)
  • Currently credentialed individually with major commercial insurance carriers in Virginia (such as Anthem/BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Optum/UnitedHealthcare, or similar)
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of state regulations governing mental health practice
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and electronic health record systems
  • Working knowledge of HR principles and performance management
  • Applicants should be prepared to verify active Virginia licensure, current individual insurance credentialing status, and prior supervisory or leadership experience during the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, Training, and Staff Management
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring of therapists
  • Provide onboarding and training to ensure all clinical and operational policies and procedures are followed
  • Assess ongoing development needs and provide training as needed
  • Hold staff compassionately accountable for performance expectations
  • Manage staff performance, including coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes as needed
  • Supervision and Consultation
  • Oversee peer consultation groups to ensure clinical excellence and best practices
  • Provide clinical oversight to Mental Health Practitioners and Professionals, including signing documentation for pre-licensed providers
  • Participate in Clinic Director peer consultation
  • Provide 1:1 consultation with therapy staff to review productivity, caseload, and documentation
  • Client Care
  • Evaluate mental health diagnoses and implement treatment plans
  • Complete ongoing documentation in accordance with company policy
  • Utilize creative and evidence-based interventions
  • Coordinate services with families, schools, medical providers, and other professionals as needed
  • Clinic Oversight
  • Collaborate with franchise owner and corporate partners to support fiscal and clinical efficiency
  • Monitor clinic schedules and operational needs
  • Respond to concerns from clients, clinicians, and community partners
  • Serve as point of contact for building-related matters
  • Outreach, Marketing, and Community Engagement
  • Lead community outreach and referral development
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote clinic visibility
