About The Position

The Clinic Biller position is largely responsible for any billing of a third party for any medical services received in any of the three clinics operated by Glacial Ridge Health System. The position will work with a variety of commercial insurance carriers, as well as Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans. This requires effective use of information technology resources and often depends on the accuracy of the system set up in patient accounting and billing clearinghouse software applications. The position requires technical knowledge in these areas, as well as in medical clinic coding and billing.

Nice To Haves

Hospital or Medical Clinic Billing experience preferred.
Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD codes and billing practices.
Must be friendly, courteous, responsible, and well-groomed.

Responsibilities

Produce, edit, file, and process 1500 and UB Clinic claims to insurance carriers.
Produce and mail bills when necessary.
File Medicare supplemental claims.
Maintain and update insurance information in the patient accounting system, including checking eligibility where necessary.
Answer billing questions and explain benefits and coverage to patients when necessary.
Follow up on insurance claims according to the denial management program’s protocol.
Follow up on delinquent accounts according to the monthly accounts receivable reports.
Must participate in business office team meetings.
Other duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager or CFO.
