Position Summary: Provides social work services to patients and families to facilitate their ability to cope with the psychological and social problems related to illness. Provides abuse detection and reporting, information and referral, consultation and counseling and assistance with discharge planning. Participates in interdisciplinary care process, in-services and other education programs of the hospital. This position requires knowledge of developmental stages as service is provided to infant, child, adolescent, adults, and geriatric populations. This position also requires knowledge of cultural influences in response to illness as there is some cultural diversity in the population served.
