About The Position

Overview Registered Nurse, Observation Unit Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift Every other weekend and holidays. Fort Sanders Regional Overview: Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital recognized for pairing clinical expertise with advanced medical technology to deliver exceptional care. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, we provide leading-edge treatment for stroke recovery. Our facility also offers specialized services in bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. Short Stay Unit: The Fort Sanders Regional Short Stay Unit is one of the hospital’s newest and most dynamic areas, designed specifically to manage admissions and discharges with efficiency and high-quality care. With only 10 beds, the unit focuses on streamlining transitions into and out of the hospital by minimizing wait times, completing essential assessments, initiating ordered therapies, and preparing patients for procedures, surgery, or discharge. Teamwork is central to the unit’s success, as nurses and support staff collaborate closely to ensure patients receive timely, well-coordinated care. Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Requirements

Must possess at least one (1) year of professional nursing experience.
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
CPR required.

Responsibilities

Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
Participates on unit-based committees.
Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
