About The Position

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital known for its clinical expertise and advanced medical technology, delivering exceptional care. It is recognized as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing leading-edge treatment for stroke recovery, and also offers specialized services in bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. Fort Sanders Regional is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest nonprofit health system, which includes nine hospitals and nearly 150 service locations. This position, a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Requirements

Must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) year experience).
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.
CPR required.

Responsibilities

Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis.
Evaluates care outcomes.
Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
Participates on unit-based committees.
Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Completes required education assignments annually.
Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
