About The Position

The Climbing Wall Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience for all climbers. This role includes supervising climbers, teaching basic climbing skills and belay techniques, enforcing safety policies, and fostering a positive community environment on and around the climbing wall.

Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move equipment (up to ~40 lbs)
• Ability to demonstrate climbing and belay techniques

Nice To Haves

• Previous climbing, belay, or instruction experience
• Climbing Wall Instructor or Belay Certification
• Experience working with youth, families, or group programs

Responsibilities

• Supervise climbers and ensure all safety rules and procedures are followed
• Provide instruction on basic climbing techniques, equipment use, and wall orientation
• Conduct safety checks on harnesses, knots, and belay systems
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the climbing wall and equipment
• Create an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere for climbers of all ages and skill levels
• Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies following facility protocols
• Assist with programs, classes, birthday parties, or special events as needed
• Communicate effectively with members, guests, and fellow staff
