About The Position

The Climbing Arborist Trainee position at The Davey Tree Expert Company involves trimming and removing trees, as well as removing unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs to ensure the health and safety of trees and surrounding areas. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in the field of tree care, with a focus on safety and skill development.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in the removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
