About The Position

Weston & Sampson’s climate resilience team is rapidly growing, and we are seeking a Spring 2026 Climate Resiliency Co-Op/Intern to join us! Our team is made up of professionals in engineering, environmental science, planning, and geospatial technologies who collaborate on a wide variety of projects. These include resilient waterfront and park design, transportation and utility infrastructure, watershed and stormwater management, and municipal climate action planning. This position is based out of our offices in Reading MA, with opportunities to support projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. What you’ll do: Students will be assisting the engineering staff with project related tasks but including:

Requirements

  • Currently Enrolled in a Bachelors degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, GIS, or a related field
  • Students with 2 years of coursework completed are preferred
  • Familiarity with geospatial data analysis and data processing using Python.
  • Introductory knowledge in Python (with ArcPy), ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical content to engineers, planners, and the public.
  • A good work ethic, creativity, and eagerness to learn new tools and methods.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online (web maps, dashboards, StoryMaps) is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to analyze geospatial and climate datasets to support vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning.
  • Use ArcGIS Pro, ArcPy, and Python to automate workflows, process large spatial datasets, and build decision-support tools.
  • Prepare high-quality maps, graphics, reports, and presentations for technical and community audiences.
  • Contribute to climate adaptation design projects by integrating geospatial and climate data into planning and engineering solutions.
  • Support stakeholder workshops and community meetings by developing materials and providing technical input.
  • Assist project managers with technical analyses, project documents, and related tasks.
  • Perform other related work as required, including field data collection using GPS or mobile apps (e.g., Survey123).
