About The Position

The Climate Outreach Specialist will act as a liaison between the Wisconsin State Climatology Office (SCO) and various stakeholders throughout the state. This role focuses on disseminating climate information, facilitating educational opportunities, and fostering collaborative relationships to help stakeholders understand and adapt to climate challenges in Wisconsin. The position will be based within the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and will involve designing, promoting, and administering outreach activities and educational programming.

Requirements

  • Experience in climate science or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey climate-related information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to develop educational materials and outreach programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and deliver climate-related content to enrich outreach programs for diverse audiences, including SCO partners, UW-Madison students, K-12 students, local governments, and Tribal communities.
  • Lead outreach program curriculum development and evaluation efforts, including needs identification and content creation related to Wisconsin's weather and climate.
  • Organize outreach activities such as workshops, school presentations, webinars, and podcasts to translate and disseminate climate knowledge.
