About The Position

The Client Support Services Counselor (CSSC) at ChildNet Youth and Family Services plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health services to at-risk children and their families. This position involves working within the community to coordinate necessary services, functioning as a Rehabilitation Specialist, Child Family Specialist, and/or Therapeutic Behavior Specialist. The CSSC is responsible for delivering behavior support and intervention, ensuring that clients receive the appropriate care and support they need.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social science-related field (e.g., Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Child Psychology).
  • At least six months of experience working with emotionally disturbed children in institutional settings.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the ICPM (Intensive Core Practice Model) philosophy.
  • Coordinate and provide services to children and adolescents under supervision.
  • Provide in-home behavior management training to caregivers as needed.
  • Actively participate in the Child and Family Team (CFT) to develop treatment plans.
  • Attend and participate in CFT, ICC, IEP, and other client-related meetings.
  • Work with mental health practitioners and social workers to ensure participation in service plans.
  • Prepare verbal and written reports regarding client participation and progress.
  • Maintain contact notes and DMH billing documentation for each client.
  • Attend DCFS/DMH meetings and community events as a representative of the agency.
  • Complete required training as outlined by ChildNet and LA County DMH.
  • Identify, report, and respond to extreme behavior in accordance with regulations and policies.
  • Attend mandatory in-service and facility/department meetings as required.
  • Maintain availability for possible crisis intervention 24/7.
