The Client Services Specialist - Float position at SMA Healthcare involves a variety of essential job functions aimed at supporting clients and ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare setting. The specialist will also handle incoming calls, perform financial assessments, and adhere to professional standards while executing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Schedules appointments and collects payment information and documentation.
  • Verifies client's behavioral health benefits with insurance companies.
  • Processes department reporting, purchasing, and legal documents.
  • Updates client or program data in SMA's approved EMR.
  • Answers, routes, and transfers incoming calls, providing general information to callers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information and handles crisis calls.
  • Performs client financial assessments and establishes fiscal information in EMR.
  • Performs fee collection duties for clients receiving services.
  • Adheres to professional standards as outlined by protocols and regulations.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related clerical/customer service/secretarial experience, preferably in a clinic/medical office setting.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of communication and boundaries with individuals with mental health issues.
  • Ability to organize and maintain complex filing and records systems.
  • Ability to operate a multiple line phone system and various office equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make accurate calculations and computations.
  • Ability to proofread documents and organize information logically.
  • Ability to prepare Excel spreadsheets for daily fee collections.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals in crisis.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
