Under the supervision of the Families Forward Crisis Services Coordinator, serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with a chronic mental illness, possible developmental disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. Provides in person and phone based crisis intervention and assistance with providing hospital referrals. Recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community. May provide case management; facilitation of a brief crisis intervention plan; outreach to consumers with multiple needs; and mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program. Responsible for detailed case documentation. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.   • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field required.
  • Three years supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families with Severe Emotional Disturbance or Intellectual is required.
  • Must possess ability to monitor and facilitate the delivery of community-based integrative services from diverse providers.
  • Strong leadership skills and group facilitation skills required.
  • Must be an energetic, flexible, creative, innovative individual who can develop strength-based, family-centered supportive case plans.
  • Ability to function as part of a team is critical.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally is required.
  • Must have the ability to gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI computer software systems.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.
  • May be required to be physically able to perform Therapeutic Options A&B.
  • Other requirements, if needed, will depend upon area of assignment and program need.
  • Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo and pass a Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
