About The Position

The Client Implementation Engineer will act independently to lead technical pre-onboarding and implementation readiness activities for Financial Institutions (FIs) and technology partners joining The Clearing House (TCH) Payments Networks and related products. This is a highly client-facing role responsible for leading technical discussions, presenting integration strategies, and serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for TCH payments network architecture and messaging standards. The role primarily focuses on driving implementation readiness following client contract execution, while providing consultative technical support during pre-sales engagements as needed and supporting post-go-live technical activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in financial services technology, enterprise integration, sales engineering, architecture, development lead, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with banking standards and ISO 20022 messaging.
  • Demonstrated experience leading client-facing meetings and presenting complex technical concepts to technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex client engagements and meet deadlines.

  • Experience supporting pre-sales technical discussions in partnership with Sales and Product teams.
  • Experience with hosted, hybrid, and multi-cloud deployment models.
  • Experience serving as a technical subject matter expert (SME).
  • Ability to analyze technical environments and evaluate implementation trade-offs.
  • Strong knowledge of payment networks (RTP, ACH, CHIPS, IMAGE Exchange), core processing, settlement services, reporting, and connectivity options (VPN, MPLS, Cloud).

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical pre-onboarding engagements following contract execution to assess client readiness and ensure alignment with TCH architecture and standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor to FIs and technology partners, leading client-facing meetings and presenting architectural guidance.
  • In partnership with the Implementation team, review and explain ancillary services with customers.
  • Discuss with customers the activities associated with the TCH Payment Networks and message profile setup to ensure compliance.
  • Join client calls during onboarding to address technical questions and guide architectural decisions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support configuration, testing readiness, and go-live planning.
  • Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure successful implementation outcomes.
  • Document client requirements and integration decisions in partnership with internal teams.
  • Provide consultative technical support during pre-sales engagements as needed.
  • Support troubleshooting through implementation, testing, and go-live stages.
  • Assist with post-go-live maintenance activities, including architectural updates and messaging changes.
