About The Position

The Client & Family Services Manager is responsible for managing the coordination of emotional support and education for our clients’ family and friends Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center. Additional responsibilities include organizing, planning and direct provision of specialized training services for blind and visually impaired adults.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Clinical License (e.g., LCSW, LICSW), meeting all licensure requirements for the state of FL preferred.
  • Experience in grief counseling and vision loss preferred.
  • Strong computer and internet skills and working knowledge of Google (preferred) and/or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of individuals, clients and staff in a professional manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member to meet organizational goals.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers and fax machines.
  • Ability to travel within service area (at times this can exceed two hours each way).
  • Ability to sit working at a computer or desk for sustained periods of time.
  • Ability to speak loudly yet patiently with hearing-impaired clients.
  • Access to reliable transportation enabling regular, predictable, on-time attendance.
  • If employee drives a car for Lighthouse business, valid Florida driver’s license, good driving record and proof of insurance are required.
  • Pass Level II background check.

Responsibilities

  • Build and strengthen family relationships for Lighthouse clients who have vision loss
  • Foster and support an environment of independence for their loved one with vision impairments.
  • Create ways families and clients can participate in the community.
  • Provide support and assistance to family and friends of clients with vision loss through 1:1, group & family support sessions.
  • Provide nurturing skills along with practical and appropriate approaches to support someone with vision loss.
  • Provide information & referrals for clients when appropriate.
  • Implement a tracking system for participant success.
  • Facilitate and collaborate with other Lighthouse staff to provide additional speaking engagements within the community to enhance public awareness and promote Lighthouse value to the community.
  • Develop and oversee a peer to peer support training program, including training and educational materials.
  • Develop sighted family peer to peer support program, to include training & policies.
  • Oversee full time peer support staff, provide supervision, devise job description & work with development team to search for suitable grant to cover staff salary.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedure/Policy for home visit safety protocol to implement agency wide.
  • Oversee Vision Rehabilitation Instructor Team and make adjustments as needed to improve our process and maintain a quality client experience.
  • Oversee the delivery of services throughout the client’s experience from intake to end of service and make adjustments as needed.
  • Create, review and recommend updates to rehab curricula and instructional materials.
  • Manage assigned staff to include providing or securing required training, approval of timesheets and expense reimbursements, performance evaluation and regular feedback, and disciplinary actions in accordance with Lighthouse policy as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with terms of DBS and Manatee County contracts to assist in ensuring compliance.
  • Provide supervision to rehabilitation staff.
  • Carry out program activities within budgetary constraints.
  • Support Lighthouse’s fund-raising activities.
  • Attend meetings and training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
