About The Position

Be the First Step Toward Stability At Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), every person who walks through our doors has a story — and a chance for something better. We’re looking for a compassionate, quick-thinking, and people-focused Client Advocate to serve as one of the first points of contact for individuals entering our shelter. In this role, you’ll help assess needs, provide guidance, and connect clients to the right services — setting the foundation for their journey toward stability and housing. What You’ll Do As a Client Advocate, you’ll play a critical role in helping clients take their first steps toward stability. You’ll be a steady, supportive presence during what can be a very uncertain time for the people we serve. Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Possess a moderate level of proficiency in data entry, Microsoft Word and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with the homeless and / or impoverished
  • Competent in inter-personal conflict transformation
  • CPR-First Aid certification within 90 days of employment
  • Naloxone (Narcan) training within 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client screenings to assess needs, goals, and level of vulnerability
  • Use standardized tools to determine appropriate shelter placement and services
  • Create initial, individualized case plans with clients
  • Provide referrals to internal programs and community resources
  • Guide clients in accessing benefits, income supports, and essential services
  • Offer walk-up assistance for urgent or immediate client needs
  • Answer questions and help clients navigate shelter services and expectations
  • Monitor changes in client needs and communicate updates to the team
  • Advocate for client needs and ensure they are connected to the right resources
  • Conduct follow-ups to support progress toward goals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in client records
  • Share client success stories that highlight real outcomes
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Escalate urgent concerns to leadership as needed
