Determine customer’s needs and guide selections for costumes, preparing orders in a timely, professional manner. Organize DPS Costume Shop to assure accessibility and inventory control. Oversee costume check out and returns in a timely manner. Maintain costumes and other materials/items via proper maintenance, cleaning, and repairs as needed. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2–3 years of seamstress and costume design experience.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain costumes.
  • Laundering, dry cleaning, and ironing costumes for orders that are going out to schools.
  • Ensure that all items are cleaned and pressed before they are sent out and laundered upon return.
  • Coordinate costume pickup and drop-offs for DPS teachers and employees as well as out of district customers.
  • Costume preparation and design.
  • Put together requested costumes per customer’s description of needs.
  • Gather costumes; prepare for checkout according to size and performance needs.
  • Maintain costume inventory list including; existing, newly purchased, and donated costumes and props; also maintain a precise layout of item location in Warehouse.
  • Keep precise records of checked out items.
  • Assure items are returned in good condition.
  • Invoice for lost or damaged items.
  • Answer phone and provide courteous customer service.
  • Maintain sewing supplies; order and obtain supplies when needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repairs of sewing machines, washer/dryer, and all Costume Shop machinery.
  • Direct and manage temporary help when appropriate.
