About The Position

The Clerk - Retail Receiving is responsible for receiving deliveries of products from all DSD vendors and verifying the accuracy of invoices. This role operates the receiving system according to Company and Division policies and maintains a good rapport with vendors. The position champions customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals and promotes Albertson's philosophy of personalized service. The clerk receives all deliveries, logs them into the computer, and breaks downloads from DSD suppliers. They may also transport products from the receiving area to storage, freezer, cooler, or sales area. Ensuring cost, quality, and inventory controls is crucial, which involves verifying orders against invoices, auditing product contents, and using the electronic receiving system to verify costs. The clerk reconciles vendor invoices to costs on the computer system, inputs differences by item, and balances all receiving information for payment. They maintain invoices and reports in the established filing system according to the record retention schedule and review and accept only proper orders submitted by outside sales representatives. Daily communication with the DSD Coordinator and vendor invoices is also part of the role. The clerk prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, repairs and prices damaged products if saleable, and discards or returns damaged products to the appropriate vendor as required. They are responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas, and may perform training duties. The role requires operating related equipment such as hand trucks, six-wheel carts, power lifts, pallet jacks, balers, compactors, cutters, pricing guns, and computer equipment. Occasionally, the clerk may perform duties such as ordering, stocking, stacking, facing, pricing, marking, and rotating dairy and frozen food items in the absence of the dairy or frozen food clerks. All job duties must be performed safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity, while maintaining good working relationships with vendors and delivering personnel.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate 10-key and type on a keyboard.
  • Ability to stand up for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Mental alertness to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Good understanding of Company policies and procedures regarding receiving, ordering, stocking, merchandising, pricing, inventory control, and product warehousing/storage.
  • Product knowledge including seasonality and perishability.
  • Knowledge of product movement and factors impacting gross margins.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular attendance is required.
