About The Position

The Clerk for Internal Medicine is responsible for obtaining all patient and insurance information, managing patient check-in and check-out processes, and performing insurance verification and patient payment collection. This role supports effective and efficient patient care and clinic flow, ensures appropriate document management, and utilizes critical thinking skills to provide feedback for continuous improvement. The clerk must successfully receive direction and ensure timely and accurate follow-through of assignments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Computer knowledge required.
  • One year clerical experience.
  • Six months health-care experience are required preferably in a similar role.
  • Keyboard skills accurate 40 wpm.
  • Expertise in customer relations, telephone skills and computer applications is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education in medical terminology, electronic medical record training, or business classes.
  • Medical office, insurance, referral and prior authorization, hospital or computer experience.
