About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an 50% Clerk III (20 hours per week) to work at our Specialty Clinic and Coralville Oakdale Family Medicine Clinic. This position will mainly support our patients at Northgate Urology Clinic and Oakdale Family Medicine but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. Northgate Urology Clinic University of Iowa Health Care's specialty clinic provides a convenient location for medical and surgical care for male and female patients, and selected services for pediatric patients. Our experts provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment in the clinic setting as well as surgical interventions for all urologic system diseases and disorders. University of Iowa Health Care is a national leader in diagnosing and treating bladder and urinary disorders in both adults and children. Our multidisciplinary teams are formed from medical and surgical specialties across the institution to provide patient-centered care. Coralville Oakdale Family Medicine Clinic We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records. Requirements

  • Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.
  • Public Contact/Customer Service experience.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours

Responsibilities

  • Gathers demographic data information and enters into the hospital EPIC system.
  • Gathers the referring entity, primary care provider(s), and other healthcare providers’ information and enters into the hospital EPIC system.
  • Performs proper name search procedures as outlined in Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Alternates with other scheduling clerks in responding to telephone calls and assisting patients, physicians, specialty nurses, and other healthcare providers at the Scheduling desk.
  • Assumes duties of schedulers and/or receptionists during their absences.
  • Maintains effective communication with appropriate divisions.
  • Performs miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned.
